Downtown parking
limited to 3 hours
thru Sept. 5 in city

The Eagle River Police Department reminds the public about changes in the parking enforcement for the city of Eagle River in regard to the downtown area.

The Eagle River City Council voted to remove parking meters on a trial basis from the downtown area and limit parking to three hours with enforcement by chalking tires, with the exception of a few metered stalls on North Main Street which will be designated as 15-minute metered parking.

The three-hour parking zones will be enforced now through Saturday, Sept. 5. Three-hour parking will be enforced Mondays through Saturdays between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. Parking is not enforced Sundays or holidays.

The following areas are designated as three-hour parking areas:

— The municipal parking lot located south of Wall Street and west of Railroad Street. The west side of this lot will not be enforced for the three-hour limit.

— The municipal parking lot located north of Wall Street and west of Railroad Street. The west side of this lot will not be enforced for the three-hour limit.

— The municipal parking lot located west of North Main Street and south of Division Street.

— Railroad Street between Pine and Spruce streets.

— Wall Street between Railroad and Fourth streets.

— Main Street to a point halfway down the block in either direction from Wall Street.

— First Street to a point halfway down the block in either direction from Wall Street.

— Second Street to a point halfway down the block in either direction from Wall Street.

All-day parking in parking zones designated for three-hour time limits will be strictly enforced, according to Police Chief Mark Vander Bloomen.

“Vehicles that are cited for a parking violation will continue to be cited for a parking violation every hour after the first violation occurred until the vehicle is removed in accordance with municipal ordinance Section 86,” said Vander Bloomen.

The fine for violating the three-hour parking time limit is $10.
