Although some minor detail work remains, the landing is now open for public use.
Major improvements include the addition of a second permanent loading dock to reduce congestion during peak loading and unloading times, a new blacktop roadway allowing straight-in backing of trailers, the addition of lakeside handicap parking and replacement of the in-water loading ramps.
The $42,000 project was a joint effort of the Little St. Germain Lake Protection & Rehabilitation District, the Wisconsin Valley Improvement Co. and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Black Bear Lodge provided public access to the lake during the construction phase of the project.
Early spring weather and project coordination by Dan Jacoby of the DNR enabled the work to be completed well in advance of schedule. The landing is ready to accommodate the traffic of the upcoming busy Memorial Day weekend.
