Kids and fishing make the perfect match By Kurt Krueger In The Outdoors AN EXTENDED stretch of rainy weather ended last Thursday and ushered in one of the most beautiful days of summer for Guides/Kids Day in Eagle River.
What was already destined to be a great afternoon spent with kids on the water turned into a near-perfect outing, complemented by light southwest winds that took the bite out of the sun’s heat.
I had the privilege of fishing with third-graders Rachael Krupka of Eagle River and Brennan Ranheim of South Carolina, who was visiting his grandparents.
It was a four-hour trip to a lake filled with northern pike, bass, bluegills and crappies. Though none of the fish were whoppers by any stretch of the imagination, the action was fast and time slipped by far too quickly.
