Block party set Tuesday By Gary Ridderbusch News-Review Asst. Editor After capturing America’s hearts in the Single Best Town contest, Three Lakes will celebrate the honor with a block party next Tuesday, Aug. 3.
Chamber officials estimate a crowd of 7,500 to 10,000 will be in town for the live performance of country music recording artists Love and Theft, and appearances by ABC/SOAPnet soap stars.
Kraft Singles and Disney ABC are throwing the summer bash after Three Lakes residents and supporters cast about one-third of the more than 20,000-plus votes in the Single Best Town in America contest.
The event will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. in the downtown area, with fireworks in Don Burnside Park at dusk.
To celebrate the event, Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle has declared Aug. 3 as Three Lakes Single Best Town Day. Sen. Jim Holperin will make an appearance at the event to deliver the governor’s proclamation and present his own proclamation honoring the town of Three Lakes.
