Frances E. 'Betty' Bates
Frances E. (Betty) Bates, 82, passed away at home Dec. 20, 2009.
She was born in Independence, Iowa, to Arthur and Frances Carmichael.
Raised in Rockford, Ill., she went to Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., where she met her husband, Chuck.
They raised their six children in the suburbs of Chicago, Ill., spent summers at Black Oak Lake in Land O’ Lakes, Wis., and moved to the Orlando area from Geneva, Ill., in 1984.
She was deeply devoted to her family and lived a life of kindness.

Roberta Josephine Belter
Roberta Josephine Belter, age 86, of Laona, Wis., passed away at her home under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice on Friday, Jan. 29, 2010.
Roberta was born March 15, 1923, in Wabeno, Wis., the daughter of the late Arthur and Elvina Enders.
On May 5, 1972, at the Lakewood Presbyterian Church, she married Arthur Belter; he preceded her in death on Sept. 8, 2009.
She currently was a member of the Laona Presbyterian Church.
Roberta enjoyed cards, dice, reading, crocheting, playing bingo and baking; she was the best pie maker.

Bennie 'Sugar Man' Kennedy Jr.
Bennie “Sugar Man” Kennedy Jr., a 15-year resident of Eagle River and formerly of Gary, Ind., died Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at Eagle River Memorial Hospital in Eagle River. He was 75.
Mr. Kennedy was born Oct. 7, 1934, in Alabama, the son of Bennie Sr. and Mary Kennedy. He worked at the Budd Co. for 15 years manufacturing automobile parts.
He also owned two restaurants, a White Castle and the Maitre’D, both of which were located in Gary. He served in the U.S. Army and was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Gary.
