One e-mail helps revive slot limit question

IT WAS back in political science class that they told us that, in America, one voice can make a difference. If you’re still not a believer, you need to hear how two fishing rule proposals in Three Lakes were resurrected from the dead pile at the Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
That’s right, proposed walleye size limit changes on the Three Lakes Chain and Sevenmile Lake will be on the table in April for the annual spring fish and game hearings, thanks to some political intervention that was sparked by one simple e-mail.

Ice fishing tourney set this Saturday on Big St. Germain
The Plum Lake Ambulance Service will host the seventh annual Holes for Life ice fishing tournament on Big St. Germain Lake this Saturay, Feb. 6.
Registration is from 6 to 10 a.m. at Fibber’s on Big St. Germain Dr. The entry fee is $25. The fee for youths age 12 and younger is $10. Youths must be accompanied by a paid adult participant.

Spring turkey tags issued
More than 149,000 permits have been issued for the spring 2010 Wisconsin wild turkey season through the spring turkey preference drawing. Postcard notifications to successful applicants went out in the mail late last week.
Hunters who do not receive a postcard by mid-February can check on the status of their permit application online through the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Online Licensing Center or by calling the DNR Customer Call Center from 7 a.m. through 10 p.m. seven days a week at 1-(888)WDNRINFo (936-7463).
